GOD BLESS AMERICA

GOD BLESS AMERICA
As we witness the sun of favor rapidly setting on our once great nation, it puts a brand new ring to the invocation “God Bless America.” This wonderful patriotic song was composed by a Russian born man named Irving Berlin in 1918 and revised by him in 1938. We have all sang this song countless times through the years. None can deny that our existence & advancement has come by a God who has shed his grace on the U.S. Through wars, conflicts, & national disasters He has always brought us through to victory. We saluted & defended our flag in times of peril.
However like other great nations before us, we have allowed greatness to become our downfall. We have taken his grace for granted & felt like we could live any way we wanted to & treat God with disregard & certainly with disrespect. We became so self-sufficient & relied upon our wisdom and wealth to sustain us.
God has and God does bless America even now as we have blasphemed him by living wicked lives & passing laws that totally disregard his holy word, the Bible. As their cheers for evil and the thirst for blood in our streets, while diluted sermons from backslidden preachers without the courage or convictions to tell the people that judgment is destine to come upon those who forsake righteousness.
In summary, when I look at our nation today that loves evil more than good, saying God Bless America has a new emphasis with a true depth of desperation. The call has now become a cry God Bless America. Later will be too late it must happen now.
As we join our families & friends this 4th of July to celebrate our independence let us realize that once again we have found ourselves, not under the bondage of Britain but the forces of evil. Only God can help & I believe he would if only we would really pray “God Bless America”. 2Chron 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW MIGHT DESTROY YOU

WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW MIGHT DESTROY YOU

Several years ago I recall seeing a little cartoon that left quite an impact on me. It was a picture of a man cruising in his convertible sports car with the top down and a big smile on his face. It was obvious that he was enjoying a pleasure ride in his favorite car. He was so caught up in the moment that he didn’t notice the road sign that warned “road closed ahead.” The picture showed just around the curve construction workers had destroyed an old bridge to replace it with a new one. The driver couldn’t see around the curve and had overlooked the warning signs of impending danger he sped on to his own demise. The caption under the little cartoon simply stated “what you don’t know might kill you.”

Americans today are much like this man we are just traveling along thinking nothing could ever go wrong. In our height of earthly pleasures and carnal pursuits it is so far beyond our imaginations to suggest or think that something catastrophic is about to happen. Oh yes the signs and warnings are everywhere we look yet we can’t see them. We are having too good of a time for anything bad to happen. However, what we don’t know could very well lead to our destruction.

Matt 24:37-39 (37: But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38: For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39: And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

The preaching of Noah was mocked and ignored by his generation very much like it is in our generation. Noah’s message was purity and not prosperity, he preached righteousness and not earthly riches, he preached mass destruction of the earth and the population and lastly he preached that the Arc was the only way of escape from the judgments to come. Noah preached endlessly for 120 years yet when judgment came they “knew not until the flood came.”

2 Peter 2:5: And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly.

Actually none of us know how long it will be before God says he has had enough with this generation just like he did in Noah’s day. We don’t know what awaits us just around the next curve of life. Our only hope is to hear the voice of God through the lips of righteous preachers and obey the salvation plan he has for us today.

Rom 10:14: How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

God doesn’t want people to be lost and perish without him. Heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people and hell is a prepared place for those unprepared. God is doing all he can to save sinners and make new creatures out of them.

2 Cor 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

2 Peter 3:9: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Don’t close your eyes nor turn a deaf ear to the voice of him who loves you most. This is our opportunity to makes things right with our creator.

Isa 55:6-7(6: Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

There is no justification in ignorance. We can never stand before him and defend ourselves by declaring “I didn’t know”.

Acts 17:30: And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent.

Study the Holy Bible and more importantly obey its simple instructions for salvation as commanded in John 3:3-8 and Acts 2:38. If you don’t obey his word then “what you don’t know will ultimately destroy you.”
