A RESURRECTED SAVIOUR BUT NOT A RESURRECTED LIFE
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Easter is now past & rejoice in the great numbers of visitors that always attend our special services on Easter. This holiday commemorates the greatest miracle of all by witnessing Jesus coming back to life again after being dead for three days. Paul said that everything we as Christians believe in was predicated on Christ coming out of the grave on the third day
1Cor15:1418 14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. 15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. 16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: 17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. 18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
The tomb is empty and Christ has risen with victory of death, hell, & the grave. He did all that he said he would do although none believed him. Everything we celebrate concerning the resurrection is proven to be accurate. The problem with Christians is that they believe in the resurrection of Christ but not the individual resurrection of our new lives in Christ. Paul said we should walk in the newness of life. True Christians must live a transformed life void of the old nature of sin.
2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
We can no longer live in death of trespasses and sins, we must rise above that lifestyle & culture into a life of power & deliverance. God has so graciously empowered us to live a life of light and liberty. The way we lived we don’t live anymore because we have received His resurrection power through the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of t2:1-5 1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved.
What the scriptures are telling us is that following Christ is about a heart full of the Spirit as well as an empty tomb. We can’t do it alone but Christ has given each of us sufficient grace to help us every day to live for Him.
1 Cor 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
It’s a wonderful thing to live a resurrected life in Christ with His Spirit directing us & His grace sustain us every day. Let’s celebrate Easter the way Christ intended by living for Him continually. Remember, if & when we do wrong and make mistakes, Christ is just to forgive us if we confess our faults to Him. Just get back up and conquer the things that are trying to destroy you and your relationship with God. God bless!
